Joseph grew up outside Cleveland, Ohio. Following high school, he attended The Ohio State University where he earned undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Political Science in 1984. He then attended law school at Ohio State, where he graduated from the Ohio State University College of Law with Honors in 1987. After graduating law school, he joined a litigation and insurance defense firm where he practiced until 2000. In 2000, Joseph and David Caborn founded Caborn & Butauski Co., LPA. Joseph has been practicing in State and Federal Courts throughout Ohio for more than 35 years. He has served as lead counsel in some 40 jury trials and a similar number of court trials. He has served as lead counsel in countless arbitrations and mediations in cases involving bodily injury, wrongful death, large loss subrogation claims, as well as uninsured and underinsured motorists claims. He is a seasoned litigator with nearly 4 decades of experience providing trial and appellate services to the insurance defense industry and his personal clients. While Joseph can most frequently be found at the office, he is an avid golfer in his spare time. Joseph lives in Hilliard with his wife Peggy, who he has managed to stay married to for 40 years despite his passion for work and golf. Joseph is a dedicated fan of Cleveland’s professional teams, Auburn football and basketball and Ohio State (because you have to be an Ohio State fan if you live in Columbus). Joseph’s remaining dream is to spend as many days as possible in sunny Florida with his recently retired wife while coaxing their beautiful adult daughters Sara and Paige to visit mom and dad whenever they desire.
